The acupuncture needles come in many sizes and lengths depending on the site at which they will be used. They are sterile, single use, stainless steel disposable needles and are discarded after each use. These needles are inserted into carefully chosen acupuncture points to provide a positive effect in your physical or emotional condition.
The heat therapy used in the clinic consists of two different types. One type used is a TDP lamp. The TDP lamp or TDP mineral lamp is a far infrared light which increases the circulation of an area and loosens the muscles and tendons so the body may be able to heal the area of concern. The other type of heat therapy is called moxibustion. Moxibustion is the use of an herbal stick to perform the same function as the TDP lamp. The herb is incorporated into a charcoal stick so that it stays lit for use where warmth, dryness, and increased circulation of an area is needed.
Cupping consists of the application of suction cups to a lubricated area of the body which will help release tight muscles, release excess heat, and increase the flexibility and amount of blood in the area to allow for the natural process of healing to be achieved.
Gua Sha involves the use of a smooth tool, such as a Chinese soup spoon, which is rubbed down lubricated skin along or against muscles or energetic channels. This action releases conditions caused by excess trapped heat, moves stagnant blood, and increases the ability of the Qi energy to move throughout these channels.
Tui Na is a type of massage which concentrates pressure, kneading, rolling, and pressing techniques to areas and acupuncture points on the body in order to treat overall physical imbalances and stimulate the innate bodily function of healing itself.
Electro-Acupuncture is applied in many conditions involving muscle spasms, paralysis, chronic pain, and neurological diseases. This type of painless acupuncture uses a pulsating electrical current which is sent through the acupuncture needles. It is a highly successful type of treatment for muscular conditions.
All foods have individual properties such as texture, taste, and temperature. These properties can be used as physical medicine to optimize the function of the body and help clear the symptoms of disease. They can be used to clear excess dampness such as mucus or phlegm, astringe excess fluids, increase the production of blood components, as well as other uses. This therapy is used as an adjunct with acupuncture as a continuing treatment performed at home for overall balance.
